By working collaboratively with the Tresor curatorial team, we developed an exhibition that intended to create an environment of possibilities: displaying archival material in dialogue with contemporary positions. In the attempt to recreate an environment as the one of Berlin after the fall of the wall, we designed an installation for display, but also for assemblies to happen in a large-scale ramp that took over the Kraftwerk—a former heat and power plant.
This installation was designed to invite for different possibilities in spaces with bleachers where workshops, conversations, performances, and the display of artworks and videos took place.
Spaces of assembly, where alternative discourse occur, are scarcer and scarcer. The ‘why’ behind this was the starting point for this exhibition proposal at the Kraftwerk for the Tresor club in Berlin. The conditions in Berlin after the fall of the wall that divided the city, created an environment of possibilities, where people could explore ideas and start initiatives in the plethora of vacant spaces. In those spaces, unexpected environments emerged. The techno scene in Berlin, and many of the spaces that housed it, including the Tresor club, was born out of this sense of possibility in space.
